Residency – Bill Plympton (USA)
Production – Limelight (Hungary)

2 mapping to discover: a first try for Bill Plympton, the master of the independent american animation industry, and a spectacular mapping created by Limelight, one of the most prominent names of the international mapping scene.
Video mapping created by Bill Plympton (USA) as part of a creation residency, and by Limelight (Hungary) for the Video Mapping Festival.

Popera

While the statues of the facade of the Opera House tear themselves off their stands to live a romance only seen in the best ancient tragedies, some strange agitators get inside their stola to disturb the 2 lovers. To the sound of the electrical lyre, Bill Plympton makes the architecture explode and give a very personal vision of the opera.

The Essence of Creation

“Every act of creation is first an act of destruction.” Picasso
Creation is building and demolishing. Creation is a constant magic: chaos becomes order, and establishes a new path for life. However, besides birth there is also decay when fragments or particles of life become something else or disappear from the world. These parallel lifecycles follow one another perpetually day by day as the epiphany of existence.
Inspired by the Greek divinity, Apollo, god of archery, music and dance, truth and prophecy, healing and diseases, sun and light, poetry, war and death… the artwork conveys this complexity by using the symbolic and physical elements of the building. The story of continuous construction and demolition portrays life itself.
